Die! Die! Die!” Merida cried out with pure glee as she effectively shot and killed her boyfriend in Call of Duty. She couldn’t help the giddy smile that broke across her face with the satisfaction of winning as Jack pouted on the couch next to her. Merida Dunbroch and Jack Overland were lounging in Merida’s basement one frigid December day because Jack had unwisely told his girlfriend that as a girl she was inevitably terrible at video games. As any competitive, offended feminist would do, she challenged him to game of Call of Duty. He lost, badly.  That’ll show him, Merida thought smugly.

Jack knew it was a bad idea to challenge Merida, but he did it anyway because he thought she would show some mercy to her boyfriend. He was wrong. Obviously. He scowled as he watched the fiery haired beauty laugh at him. He loved her hair. It was like a warning signal saying “Stay away, she’s tough!” He knew she was tough, but that didn’t make him stay away.

“Another game, Mer, and this time I’ll win!” Jack was sure of it. She just had beginner’s luck. Merida smirked. Jack was stubborn; they would probably be down here for hours.

“Aw, yer not goin’ te win,” Merida chirped, her accent shining through.

“Yes I am!” Jack couldn’t lose to his own girlfriend. That would be embarrassing. Aster would never let him live that down. Heck, even Hiccup would make fun of him for it.

“No, yer not.” Merida stated with a grin as she gazed into Jack’s soulful brown eyes. She loved those eyes; she could get lost in them. “And ye know it.” Her voice dropped to a whisper as abandoned her X box controller and crawled over the couch to snuggle up against Jack. She felt his arms wrap around her as she rested her head on his chest. She sighed and tilted her chin upwards to gently kiss his lips.

“I guess I’ll just have to get used to it then, huh?” Jack chuckled, looking into her brilliant blue eyes and grinning, the game completely forgotten.

This is my Jarida one-shot for Day 3 of the 30 Day OTP challenge: Gaming. I like this a lot! I should write in third person more often. I actually got to write in Merida's accent, which I don't do in her point of view because I don't think she notices it. This is my first one-shot ever, so I'm glad it was Jarida. For some of the other days in the challenge I'll do one-shots, but not all of them.

I haven't ever played CoD, but I have played Halo Reach! I was totally beaten by my best friend's little brothers who are twelve, ten, and eight.
