I've been swamped and I haven't done any good drawings lately. So, I decided to do another editorial list. Hopefully, my editorial skills will improve. For now, I'm going to make a list. Maybe later I'll do a really serious editorial. For now let's get started.

    Rules:

  • One princess per fairytale (For example, I couldn't put both Atta and Dot, or Melody and Ariel)
  • Both Disney and Pixar
  • Doesn't have to be a official, set princess
  • That being said, it can't just be a random heroine, either (like Kim Possible, although she was awesome.)

    10. Jane Porter (Tarzan)

I love Jane. Now, a lot of you are probably going "WAIT A SECOND SHE'S NOT A PRINCESS!", but if Tarzan is the king of the jungle, wouldn't that make her the queen of the jungle? Maybe that's just my way of thinking. Besides, she's kooky, curious, and just so fun to watch. Plus, she's visibly highly intelligent, to the point where she gets downright dorky (drawing the chimpanzees and thinking that even though Tarzan saved her, he's then going to attack her.)

    9. Cinderella (" ")

To be honest, she wasn't one of my instant favorites, like some of the others on this list or in my memorable mentions, but she's really grown on me. As a kid, I didn't see her as much of a strong character, but now I see how much of backbone Cinderella really has. It takes a lot for a person to be treated like garbage most of her life and end up one of the kindest people on the planet.

    8. Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)

Not only is Kida a princess, she's a savior. Kida realizes that her people are in danger and she turns to Milo, the awkward protagonist of Atlantis, for help. She eventually becomes the living host of the power source behind Atlantis. You would think that all that would go to her head, but it doesn't. She's open-minded and accepting of others; in fact, she's the only one who saw past Milo's dorky exterior to who he really is.

    7. Tiana (The Princess and the Frog)

She's not very popular, and I will never understand why. She's very flawed in the beginning, and that makes her painstakingly real. Her hardworking attitude becomes an obsession, and then she's no longer happy. She's also strong, smart, and sarcastic. She goes on this amazing journey and allows Naveen to change her heart.

    6. Rapunzel (Tangled)

She's so sweet and weird. It seems like, through fan art, she's been pictured as a giggly, overly-naïve childish girl. I even saw her that way, until I saw Tangled again a couple of weeks ago. She's tough, not I'll-break-your-face tough, like Merida, but not defenseless either. She actually uses that frying pan of hers. Yes, she's a little naïve, but who wouldn't after being locked away in a tower for so long? She's also sweet and understanding. She has an endless amount of energy, and she's creative.

    5. Vanellope Von Schweetz (Wreck-It-Ralph)

I love Vanellope. She's adorable, and so driven. Racer pun not intended. Seriously though, what kind of a princess is a go-cart racer? In a video game? She's one of a kind. Those of you who have seen Wreck-It-Ralph know why she's a princess, and those who haven't seen it should. I love her friendship with Ralph, and I just love her! She takes what she's given, and in the face of all the bullying she still tries to fit in.

    4. Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

If I had made this list even a month ago, and I would have put her at the top. Since then, I've discovered that other princesses have taken that spot. You know that connection you get with Disney princesses when you watch them? I had that connection when I watched Belle and her braininess. I myself am a bookish introvert, and I really could identify with her. The fact that Belle's oblivious not only to her own beauty, but to the beauty of ugly-hearted people around her (Gaston), is fascinating. Belle will always hold a special place in my heart.

    3. Meg (Hercules)

Meg is so atypical among Disney heroines in general. To start, her body structure is different, although her face does look remarkably like Jane's. More than that, she's quick-witted and sarcastic. She doesn't just fall at the feet of Hercules, and we see that she has been scarred romantically. She's emotionally hardened, but eventually she lets Hercules in. Also, her one-liners are awesome, and her voice actor (Susan Egan) is brilliant.

    2. Mulan (" ")

Mulan is just amazing. She's the first princess to fight and use weapons. She's awesome! She's tough, smart, kind, and loyal. She follows her heart into a situation that could get her killed, and she did it willingly and knowingly. She gains the support of the men around her, and the love of General Shang. To the people who say "Mulan isn't a princess!" You know what, she's more badass than Aurora, Snow White, and Jasmine put together, so she counts! Plus she's officially a part of the Disney Princess franchise.

And for number 1..... You probably have already guessed it....

    1. Merida (Brave)

She's imperfect and utterly human. She's loud, sarcastic, smart, funny, beautiful and has a shooting ability that's enviable by both Robin Hood and Katniss Everdeen. She's selfish at first, but goes on a journey with her mother that teaches her to be sympathetic and loving. Furthermore, that hair!!!!! Oh my gosh, I want that hair. Mine's just boring brown. As seen in some scenes, she's shown to be skilled in many different weapons, and I love the competition scene. I also love her accent. She's Disney Pixar, key word being Disney. She counts.

Honorable Mentions:

Melody (The Little Mermaid 2)

Ariel (The Little Mermaid)

Nala (The Lion King)

Kiara (The Lion King 2)

Nita (Brother Bear 2)

Dot (Bug's Life)

I just had to do another list.
