I could't believe it. He actually did it. Wreav actually went to Dunbroch and fetched Toothless for Hiccup, and then searched for Rapunzel's tower so that he could bring her Pascal the chameleon. A smile lit up my face as I gleefully launched myself towards the unsuspecting boy, and in his surprise he caught and hugged me close.

"You have a heart!" I sobbed, biting back tears. I was beginning to think that Wreav and Hiccup had swapped bodies.

"Your faith in me is astounding," He chuckled deeply. "Whenever I need an ego boost, I should go to you."

    "You're welcome," I joked.

    "What about me?" Jack grumbled.

"What about you?" I asked, pulling away from Wreav to grin at Jack, but I was met with a dark glare. What's with him? I didn't get a chance to voice my concerns when I saw Toothless waiting impatiently behind Wreav. "Toothless!" I cried and hugged the great beast's neck. He responded by happily licking my face. "Ew, Toothless," I attempted to wipe my face off and free it of Toothless' slobber, but to no avail. I laughed at his mischievous expression.

"Hey, Toothless," Jack greeted the dragon, and Toothless glared at him.

"Oh Toothless, I guess you're not too fond of Jack." I laughed again, and stole a look at Hiccup who was crowding with Rapunzel and Tooth. They were looking at something in the blonde's hands. "Hey boy, ready to fly?" He wriggled in excitement and I swung myself into his saddle.

"Merida, you can't fly Toothless indoors." Wreav rolled his eyes impatiently. "Besides, even I couldn't get Toothless to fly. I had to use the snow globes because the dragon would only fly for Hiccup." With a grin, I hooked Toothless and set his wing to fly.

"So open the doors," I said and Wreav warily slung opened the heavy wooden doors, letting the chilly air dance into North's Workshop.

"What are you doing, Merida?" Tooth asked.

"Merida!" Hiccup sounded panicked as Toothless prepared to bound outside.

"I'm taking Toothless for a flight, bye!" I called as Toothless charged outside and leapt off the ground. A triumph tore at my throat as we soared through the air. Toothless didn't even flinch at the frigid weather; the North Pole had nothing on Berk. That place was freezing.

"Hey there, princess!" A voice called to my right, and a quick turn of the head revealed said voice to be attached to Jack Frost. He was grinning like the fool he was, flying in circles around Toothless challengingly. I felt Toothless pull me forward as he doubled his speed to outdo Jack and we left him in the dust. "Not fair!" He called distantly, and I reined Toothless in, pulling on his harness to give him directions to slow down and double back for our slow friend.

"That's what you get for challenging a dragon to a race," I retorted, maneuvering Toothless so he wouldn't plow the boy over. He was flying with his treasured staff, as he always did. He explained to me once that the staff helped him fly. I hadn't understood completely and still didn't, but no matter.

"You're pretty good with him," Jack remarked, and I felt my cheeks warm up in response to the praise.

"Thank you," I replied, keeping my eyes ahead, in concentration.

"How did you learn? I mean, it's not like there are a lot of dragons in Dunbroch."

"I got a lot of practice from Angus," I told him, "The control is the same. Turning with both pressure from my legs and guiding his head with my arms. The only difference is with Toothless I have to use more leg. Not much reins, you see."

"Wow. Are you sure this was a good idea?" He sounded genuinely worried.

   "Why wouldn't it be?"

"Hiccup didn't seem too happy with you before...." He trailed off and my eyes widened in realization.

"He is going to be furious." I stated, then shrugged, "Something new and different. He worries too much."

"Can't blame him," Jack said, "You don't seem to have the best judgment."

"Maybe I don't, but that doesn't mean he has to watch over me like a mother hen."

"You could get yourself into trouble--"

"And I get myself back out of it," I cut him off, throwing him a glare. "Besides, who are you to talk about judgment and decisions, Mr. Impulsive?" This last question wasn't a joke, it was an angry sneer. I clucked Toothless faster and soared away from the young guardian. We climbed higher and higher until we spiraled back down to the barren landscape. I remembered this feeling from little over a week ago, when Toothless had first arrived in Dunbroch. Gosh, it seemed like a lifetime ago. I felt weightless as Toothless and I whirled through the sky, creating an invisible streak behind us as we went. I could spend a lifetime like this. I completely understood why Hiccup loved this so much.

"Why, if it isn't our favorite little princess?!" A female voice sent chills down my spine and danger pulsed through my veins. "Aren't you a little cold, dear?" Actually, I wasn't even though I was only wearing a wool cloak over my dress. It was thick enough clothing, I suppose.  the voice was visibly putting Toothless on edge, and he struggling with his speed to get away from it. He weaved into the clouds, and I'd thought we had lost her.

"It's alright, Toothless," I reassured him.

"Yes, Toothless, it's alright." The voice cooed again, but this the owner was revealed. She had olive skin, dark hair, and the creepiest eyes I had seen in my life. She didn't seem to be solid, moving as if she was only made of air. Her hair and dress certainly looked smoky. "Don't worry, dear, it's probably all that extra weight. Let's remedy that, shall we?" Before I could process what has she was hinting at, I was thrown out of the saddle and airborne, plummeting towards the cold, hard snow. A scream of terror ripped itself from my throat as I realized that there was no way I could survive such a fall. Toothless let out a yelp and plunged after me, but that woman held him back with an invisible force. My vision was going fuzzy and I knew instinctively that I would soon black out.

"Jack!" A single flicker hope ignited inside of me when I thought of that name passed my lips. Soon, I would black out and hit the ground, and then that would be the end of me. Foolishly, I grasped at the air, hoping to find something, when suddenly, I was hit by some flying object. Or maybe it was a creature? It picked me up and stopped my fall.

"C'mon princess, hang in there." Jack?

   And then everything went black.

Oh my gosh my heart is pounding. JARIDA! I was looking over some previous chapters, and in the beginning some people didn't want a Jarida fan fic. So it makes me sad that I may have lost some early readers because of the pairings, but I've got some great later readers that support everything about the story. That's all I can ask for. Some of the long gone characters are back, Pascal is here, Toothless is back.... I like this chapter. Plus we met the villain! Eris is scary.

Wreav has a heart! He is 115Master (now :iconspartan-259:)'s OC.
